A few months ago, I returned from an 8-day cruise on the new Explora 1, my fifth luxury cruise. The industry is evolving, with ships becoming more modern and luxurious, targeting a younger audience. This cruise was a highlight for me due to the perfect destinations and weather.
We started in Barcelona, a city I love for its impressive architecture. Our first stop was Erice, Sicily, a historic town known for its medieval architecture and stunning views. We had a guided tour of the town’s highlights.
Next, we visited Valletta, Malta. The capital is a UNESCO World Heritage site with rich history and Baroque architecture. We experienced a memorable fireworks display there.
In Taormina, Sicily, we enjoyed the views of Mount Etna, ancient Greek Theatre, and charming streets. We shopped and had a delicious lunch at Ristorante Al Giardino.
Although we couldn’t explore Crete due to work, I hope to return. The last stop was Naxos, Greece, known for its beautiful beaches and rich culture. We had an excellent guide who showed us the best spots. The cruise ended in Athens with a breathtaking sunrise.

Recreational Activities:
Guests can enjoy swimming pools, hot tubs, and sports courts. The fitness room was gorgeous and always full of guests… a very anormal situation for me… I am usually alwaysalmost alone there.

The Explora 1 prides itself on offering personalized service with a high crew-to-guest ratio, ensuring that each guest receives attentive and tailored service throughout their voyage. We had an own Butler, that helped us to make all our wishes reality.

The ship offers a range of exclusive shore excursions and tours, allowing guests to explore destinations with expert guides and unique, immersive experiences. This option is great and you should book at least more than two excursions during a cruise.
Luxury Retail:
Onboard boutiques provide a selection of high-end brands and exclusive merchandise, allowing guests to indulge in luxury shopping at sea. And yes I checked all shops out and it was very difficult not to shop anything… The havean amazing Rolex collection on board.
Sophisticated Design:
The ship’s interior design features contemporary elegance, with stylish decor, artwork, and luxurious public spaces that create an atmosphere of refined sophistication. I loved the interior so much. Very luxurious and high quality.

The new ships are changing their strategy and are looking for a better environment. The Explora 1 is a state-of-the-art cruise ship, designed with cutting-edge technology and a strong emphasis on sustainability.
